Church Teaching
After the initial part of family worship on Sunday morning,
the children are given separate teaching as appropriate.
This may take the form of stories and Bible readings, prayers,
games and other activities.
Christenings or Services to Mark the
Birth of a Child
We offer a range of services for those celebrating the birth
or adoption of a child.
Each service rejoices in the love of God for all children.
These services range from:-
- A thanksgiving and blessing for a child. This
thanks God for the new life and asks for God's blessing on the family
and child.
- A thanksgiving and dedication service, where Christian
parents make promises to raise the child within the Christian faith and
life of the church. This leaves it open for the child to choose the
possibility of baptism, when ready at a later age.
- A baptism service, where water is used and the child is
baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In this
service the child becomes part of the church and the parents dedicate
themselves to a Christian way of life and promise to bring the child up
in that way.
As the church promises to show the love of God to a child
brought for any of these services we seek to keep in touch with
families who bring their children to church. Special services for
parents and toddlers are arranged with suitable stories, prayers and
activities, followed by tea and a time to chat informally.
Believer's Baptism
We offer a service of believer's baptism for those who have
not been baptized as children and who confess their faith in Christ.
The baptism may be done either by sprinkling water or by total
immersion.
Study Group
The Study Group is a house group which meets, on average, once
a month to explore issues and topics relating to our faith. The Bible
is central to our discussions, although other texts and readings may
also be used.
We have completed a six-session course on Faith and Doubt,
using 'Living with Questions' by Nick Fawcett. We are all troubled,
from time to time, by disturbing doubts, forcing us to realise that our
faith is not always smooth and straightforward.
We went on to explore the first four sessions of 'Promises
Promises', which was an Advent study course, also by Nick Fawcett. This
course set out to examine the promises made by God in the Bible, which
were either realised in the coming of Jesus Christ, or will be
fulfilled in his coming again.

House Group
The House Group meets weekly in the homes of members on
Wednesdays at 7.45 pm. Our aim is to have a time of fellowship, prayer
and bible study.
We have considered the apostles creed and many Christian
prayers including the Lord's Prayer. This was followed by a series of
studies on Paul's letter to the Romans.
We are in contact with Coventry City Mission, which has asked
us to pray for their work in Wood End and to sponsor a street in that
area.
The House Group has a telephone prayer chain, which enables us
to pray for anybody who may need our prayers.

Reading Circle
The reading circle discusses books from a faith perspective.
This means reading not only Christian books but exploring
great spiritual themes such as relationships and love, life and truth,
evil and punishment, creation and what it means to be human.
